Between the pop-punk delights of The Wonder Years and State Champs, it was The Swellers and Moose Blood who successfully stole my heart this year. Not to mention the almighty mosh calls courtesy of A Day To Remember, alongside new records from letlive., Bring Me The Horizon and Biffy Clyro. Swoon.
Check out my Top 10 songs and albums below, as edited for Kerrang!’s Staff Picks.
1. The Wonder Years - Dismantling Summer
“‘If I’m in an airport, AND YOU’RE IN A HOSPITAL BED!’ From the moment I hit caps lock on these lyrics, Dismantling Summer, and The Greatest Generation in its entirety, resonated with me, just when I needed it to. Amongst the great pop-punk that’s come out of this year (and there’s been a lot, don’t deny it), there’s really no match for the feeling of hearing Soupy’s wails to lock down your favourite song, album and band of 2013.”

1. The Wonder Years - The Greatest Generation
"Massive mosh calls aside (BRACE FOR IMPACT), my 2013 playlist was largely pop-punk orientated, with The Wonder Years heading up proceedings. For me, The Greatest Generation stormed in, stole summer, made it feel, erm, sunnier, and set the bar for the genre’s finest to follow. Cue State Champs releasing their best record to date. Pop punks not dead, phew."
